Order of Prayers According to the Spanish Community Customs. Amsterdam, 1658. Complete Copy in Original Binding.
Prayer Book containing prayers as per the custom of Spanish Community in Amsterdam.
This book is comprised of two parts. Each section has its own title page decorated with beautiful copperplate engravings. The first part is comprised of a Prayer Book for weekdays, including its Torah readings and Haftorot.
The second section opens with the following words:
“Order of prayers for festivals and holidays, as per customs of the holy Spanish community, each topic is beautifully presented, each one for its relevant time.” It includes Masechet Avot and Azharot for Shavuot.
Many additional poetic sections are added to this Prayer Book, giving us much insight to the local community customs.
On page 8: ‘Shema koli asher yishma bekolot.” (attributed to Rabbi Hai Gaon).
On page 7: “Odeh LaKel levav choker”.
Impressive and beautiful copy. Bound in the original, leather binding, with artistic gilt decorations on the back of the binding.
