Sefer Yesod: Shealot veTeshuvot of Rabbenu Meir Katzenellenbogen from Padua. Venice 1553. First edition.

Sh"ut Meharam Padua. First edition of this important sefer.

At the beginning of the book are teshuvot by Rabbi Yehuda Mintz (Mahari Mintz), rabbi and father-in-law of the Maharam Padua. The Maharam organized his Rabbi's responsum, as well as Gittin and Chalitza performed by him, and those from his father-in-law, Ha-Rav Avraham Katzenellenbogen.

The Maharam Padua (5242-5325) was one of the greatest Achronim, and was the older relative of the Rama and the Meharshal, who strictly followed his teachings and rulings. The Rama wrote about him: Look and see the wonders of G-d in the world. He is my relative, the great Gaon, Ha-Rav Meir Padua, who builds halachic fences and stands in the breach, pursues justice and follows his proper Beit Din, which is known throughout the world (Shut Ha-Rama #17). And the Meharshal, who did not fear anyone, wrote regarding him that whatever he wrote is in passing and it all depends on the honor of our master, our relative, the great Gaon, who enlightens the eyes of Israel with his wisdom and his Torah, our teacher Ha-Rav Meir (Shut Meharshal #28).
