Toldot Yitzchak by Rabbi Yitzchak son of Rabbi Yosef Caro. Mantua. 1558.

Rabbi Yitzchak Caro’s commentary on the Pentateuch.

Second edition by the uncle and teacher of the ‘Bet Yosef’, with novellae and explanations on the Pentateuch.

This book was printed during the Bet Yosef’s lifetime. On the title page the printers wrote: “Commentary on the Pentateuch by Chacham HaKollel Rabbi Yitzchak Caro zt”l, grandfather of the wise and pious Rabbi Yosef Caro of Safed, in the Upper Galilee.” This error, describing the author as the grandfather and not the uncle of the Bet Yosef was repeated in all later editions of the book.

Mantua 1558. Venturin Ruffinelli.
[1] 81 leaves. 29 cm.
Excellent condition. Ornate, new binding.
