First Edition of Massechet Temurah. Printed by Bombarghi.

Beautiful and Impressive Copy.

Massechet Temurah.

Venice 1522. Printed by Daniel Bombarghi.
34 pages. Size: 40cm.
In the introduction to his book 'The Printer Daniel Bombarghi' Haberman writes: 'The humanist Daniel Karniel Bombirghi from Anuiresha merited to found in the early 16th century an amazing Hebrew printing press.'
Haberman wrote a book about "Bomberg", (this is how the collectors referred to him, ) printed in Safed 1978.
The first Masechta ever printed was in 1480 in Vadi Al Chagara (Guadalajara), printed by Shlomo Alkabetz (see photocopy item no. 37573 on Computerized Jewish book Otzar).
From then, until the printing of the Shas by Bomberg, 53 tractates were printed, but Masechet Temurah was not printed.
The printer Yehoshua Shlomo Shontzino started printing the whole of Shas, but printed only 14 tractates.
The printer Gershon Shontzino started printing the Talmud in Pissaro, but printed only 28 tractates.
In 1519, Bomberg started to print the Talmud, starting with Masechet Pesachim. Bomberg succeeded in concluding the whole work and printed the entire Shas, even several times.
His printing press used high-quality paper and very clear letters, and he had excellent professionals for proofreading, so that his printed tractatess would be masterpieces.
Due to the heavy use of the tractates, it is very difficult nowadays to find one complete.
The copy here is printed on thick paper, a few pages are slightly stained, but still undamaged. Wide margins, new and professional leather binding.
