HOLOCAUST – MAUTHAUSEN CONCENTRATION CAMP 1945 CERTIFICATION OF JEW
An identity card issued to a Jewish internee at the Mauthausen concentration camp, upon the camp's release.
The camp was conquered by US soldiers on May 5th 1945. This certificate was issued less then a month later.
The Jew to whom this certificate was issued – Samuel Beer Gartenhaus, was a Polish Jew, born in August 1922 in Gliwice and lived in Krakow / Cracow before being taken to camp by the Nazis.
He was interned in Mauthausen for over 2 years (!) from March 1943 to May 1945.
The certificate is signed and stamped by the camp's authorities, and carries the signature and fingerprint of the owner. His current address according to the certificate is Ebensee concentration camp, a subdivision of Mauthausen.
Size when open – 20.5x14.5 cm / 8x6 inch.
