RARE JUDAICA HEBREW 1920S INK STAMP SET FOR KIDS, GERMANY
2 sets of ink stamp letters, from German company Famos, 1920s.
The first set is the rare one – it is in Hebrew! It includes small rubber letters and a handle into which these letters can be inserted to make words. The letters are mirror images, so that the printed version will be presented in the right direction.
Also in this lot – a set in German Alphabet (Famos Druckerei no. 117). This set has on its inner cover a Hebrew dedication from 1928, with greetings for Bar Mitzvah of a young Jewish boy from Telšiai, (Also known as Telšē: Telsze, Тельшяй, (טעלז in Lithuania.
The company - Leipziger Stempelwaren FAMOS GmbH - was founded in 1891 with its headquarters in Leipzig Germany. It produced tools and toys and was particularly known for its stamp sets.
Condition: Tear to Hebrew set cover; a few of the letters in both sets are missing; stains and printed words to both covers. All in all – reasonable condition for an ultra rare item such as this.
