Ganzen Aleksei Vasilevich (1876, Odessa – 1937, Croatia).
Born in Odessa. Graduated from the Imperial Novorossiysk University in Odessa (Faculty of Law, II degree diploma). From 1900 to 1917 he was in the civil service in the Department of Institutions of the Empress Maria, and in 1915 he was in the service of the Naval Ministry as an artist of the Main Naval Staff of Russia. He studied with K. Salzman, P. Meyerheim in Germany, then in Paris with E. Robert-Fleury and J. Lefebvre. Graduated from the Berlin and Dresden Academies of Fine Arts. Member of the International Association of Watercolor Painters, the Association of Engravings, the Russian Society of Artists in Paris, and the Society of Artists. He purchased paintings by Russian and European artists. He opened his own gallery in Odessa (1910-1917). He emigrated from Russia in 1920 and lived in his villa in Dubrovnik until his death.
