Pimenov Yury Ivanovich (1903, Moscow – 1977, Moscow).
Member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR, People’s Painter of the USSR. He studied in the VKhUTEMAS Higher School of Arts under S.V.Maliutin, M.F.Shemiakin, and V.A.Favorsky. One of the founders of the OST painters association (1925). The Lenin Prize Laureate of 1967 for the series of paintings “New Blocks of Buildings”, laureate of the State Prize in 1947 and 1950 for theatre scenery. The artist received a Golden Medal for his picture “The Stakhanovism” at the Soviet pavilion at the Paris World Fair in 1937. The works of Y.I.Pimenov are kept in the Tretyakov State Gallery, the Bakhrushin State Theatre Museum.
