Shlepnev Vasily Stepanovich (1893 - 1975)

Painter. In 1907 he was accepted as an apprentice in a painting and signage workshop. In 1911 he entered the MUZhVZ, the teacher was A.M. Vasnetsov. In 1914 he was accepted as a member of the Moscow Union of Artists of Russia. In 1920, the artists M. Grekov and V. Shlepnev voluntarily joined the Red Army. Shlepnev was appointed as an artist in the political department of the Caucasian Front. By order of the commander of the Southwestern Front K.E. Voroshilov created a series of portraits of soldiers and commanders of the First Cavalry Army. In 1924-1926. as part of the artistic and scientific expedition of the People's Commissariat of Education of the RSFSR, artists V.S. Shlepnev, D.S. Fedorov and F.M. Chernousenko were sent to the Caucasus to reflect the life of the mountain peoples. In 1927, on behalf of the Leningrad department of RABIS, he worked in the Leningrad Academy of Arts and Arts. Until 1932, he headed a creative group of artists from the North Caucasus and the Don.
