Collection of Happy New Year Postcards by Williamsburg

20 Happy New Year Postcards by Williamsburg - New York, printed in Germany. Early 20th century.

Postcards with synagogue, Saturday, and holidays scenes, The test - according to Isidor Kaufman's painting, postcards describing the inventions of the period, postcards with songs in Yiddish and more.

The American publishers of greeting cards have taken advantage of the knowledge and technology acquired in this field in Germany. The Williamsburg Company was the first and largest to print the jewish Happy New Year postcards in America. Its offices were housed in 25 Delancey Street in the heart of Manhattan's Jewish Quarter. The company excelled in producing a wide variety of postcards on Jewish subjects. Since its people were actually European immigrants, the preferred topic was the life of the Eastern European town. The printers used scenes from the Central Publishing House in Warsaw and added a 'western' tint to them.

Not sent by mail, very good condition.
