David Pinsky [1872-1959] One of the greatest playwright and Yiddish writers of the 20th century. He began his work as a teacher in Warsaw, where he also printed his first work in Yiddish, the satire "Der Groser Men-Freund" ("Loving the Great Man"). He approached the great Yiddish creators in Warsaw, publishing his first works in the papers of Mordechai Spector and YL Peretz. In Warsaw he also devoted himself to public work in the Jewish labor movement. In 1899 he emigrated to the United States and settled in New York. In America, his playwright flourished, and Pinsky became one of the greatest Yiddish playwrights. His plays were presented in hundreds of stages throughout the Jewish circulation. After World War II, with the destruction of the Jewish people in Eastern Europe, he immigrated to Israel and settled in Haifa. His house became a home to the remnants of Yiddish creators who gathered in the country. He spent his last years promoting Yiddish culture in Israel and abroad.
