David Alef Elkind Bezalel Artist Color Handpainting - Rare acrylics integrated inscription, Pidion Kaparot, 1927
David Alef Elkind - Born in Riga. Immigrated to The Land of Israel in the 1920s and studied art at Bezalel in Jerusalem.
Was a member of the Circles Group in Ma'ayan Harod and later moved to Beit Alfa, working in the field of cattle.
From there he got accepted as member of the kibbutz "Beit Hashita" and served as head illustrator of the Kibbutz Hagaddahs of Beit Hashita and Ayelet Ha'shachar as well as additional kibbutzes. In 1948 he designed the famous logo of the Golani Brigade with the oak, along with other designs for Tzahal unit tags. Designed the mythical logo of the bus manufacturing company "Ha'argaz". Designed and illustrated the symbols of the regional councils in the Galilee and the valley.
Passed away in 1957.
