Lengthy Letter in the Hand of Rebbetzin Shterna Sarah Schneerson of Lubavitch. Rosh Chodesh Adar 1913?

Lengthy letter handwritten and signed by the wife of the Admo"r the Rasha"b and mother of the Admo"r the Rayya"tz.

This letter was written in Yiddish, in Rebbetzin Shterna Sarah's calligraphic cursive hand, and sent to her cousin Rachel. The content of the letter has not been examined.

Rebbetzin Shterna Sarah [1859-1942], the fifth rebbetzin of the Chaba"d dynasty, was the pure wife of the Admo"r the Rasha"b, and mother of the Admo"r the Rayya"tz. She herself was also a scion of the royal dynasty - her father was the Admo"r Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak (son of the Tzemach Tzedek) and her mother was Rebbetzin Channah - daughter of Rabbi Ya'akov Yisrael of Cherkes, son of the maggid of Chernobyl and son-in-law of the Mittler Rebbe. In her youth, Rebbetzin Shterna Sarah had written a composition about the imprisonment and redemption of the Elder Admo"r, called Meggilat Chayav shel HaRav MiLiadi. It was lost over the years, and found in 1940, when it was delivered to the Admo"r the Rayya"tz. Her son the Rayya"tz founded the "Beit Sarah" girls' schools, named after her.
