"The Tzaddikim Resemble their Creator" - Rare Statement by the Admo"r of Lubavitch Regarding the Rasha"b, 14 Kislev, 1956

"His mazal increases on his birthday ..."

Letter from the Admo"r of Lubavitch to Tze'irei Agudat Chaba"d, Jerusalem branch. Brooklyn, New York.

The Rebbe emphasizes in his letter, that their letter to him was written on 20 Cheshvan, the Admo"r the Rasha"b of Lubavitch's birthday, upon which the Rasha"b's mazal is increased. In fact, the Rebbe writes, all that his Chassidim succeed in doing on that day are from the strength of that tzaddik, and only for the sake of appearances does it look like they are accomplishing anything themselves, so that won't be "bread of shame" [נהמא דכיסופא], for "the tzaddikim resemble their Creator."

The Admo"r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson [1902-1994], seventh in the dynasty of the Admo"rs of Lubavitch, started serving as Admo"r in 1951 and continued until his passing. He was a tremendous gaon in all aspects of the Torah. His net was - and still is - cast across the entire world.

[1] official aerogram, 31 cm. The letter is typewritten, with the addition of handwritten emphases by the Rebbe, and signed by him at the end; fine condition. Filing perforations. Fold marks with tiny tears in the folds, and ink and aging stains, without damage to text.
