Rare historical document, regulations establishing the Shaarei Chesed neighborhood in Jerusalem with the hand signature of great sages and scholars of the generation from Jerusalem. 1909.

Brochure of regulations from 'Shaarei Chesed' members, for the construction and establishment of Sharei Chesed neighborhood in Jerusalem, 1909. 

Historical and rare copy with signature of all heads of the committee and great sages and scholars from Jerusalem, included the seal of the committee, for the building of one of the important neighborhoods in Jerusalem beyond the walls. Jerusalem 1909.

This brochure is a booklet of regulations of the neighborhood, printed in the year 1908, and along with it is a 'membership certificate' for one on the important persons of Yerushalayim shel ma'alah Rabbi Moshe Meir Heizler, after he signed on the regulations and paid his first payment.

Upon accepting the new member, signed by great men of Yerushalayim shel ma'alah. [according to the following order]

Rabbi Dov-ber Itinger, Rabbi Yechiel Michel Tukatzinski, Rabbi Elya Raam, Rabbi Avraham Aharon HaLevi Prag, Rabbi Zurech Ephraim Epstein, Rabbi Shmuel Shpitzer, and Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Porush.

And following confirming the above, by the

'Gabaim and Administrators of Chevrat Shaarei Chesed Gemilat Chasadim Klali committee': Moron Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld, Rabbi Yoel Moshe Solomon, Rabbi Nachum Bergman, Rabbi Arye Leib Bhrra"d Dayan [Rashkes], Rabbi Menachem Nachum Ka"tz, and Rabbi Dov-ber HaLevi Epstein.

Continuing, are empty pages on which has been written, seems to be hand written by Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Porush founder of the neighborhood. The continuing payments of Rabbi Heizler for apartment rentals in the neighborhood.

שכונת שערי חסד הוקמה בירושלים החל משנת תרס"ח ע"י ראשי הוועד לגמילות חסדים הכללי, בראשות רבי נפתלי צבי פרוש ורבי שמואל שפיצער ונועדה במקורה לבניית מאתיים בתי אבן לתלמידי חכמים אשכנזיים, בתנאי תשלום טובים ביותר ובאיכות מגורים ובינוי גבוהים מהמקובל בירושלים.

גבאי ומנהלי הקופה היו גדולי הדור כמו הגרי"ח זוננפלד רבי אלי' ראם ורבי יחיאל מיכל טוקאצינסקי ועימהם כל גדולי הדיינים בירושלים.  

מראשיתה ועד ימינו, גרו ופעלו בשכונה גדולי הדור והמפורסמים שבהם מרנן הגרי"מ חרל"פ, הגרחי"ל אויערבאך, בנו הגרש"ז ונכדו הגר"ש, הגרא"ד רוזנטל, הגר"ש שבדרון ועוד. בסמוך לשכונה מעונו של שר התורה מטשעבין אשר נהג לקיים את תפילותיו בבית הכנסת 'חסידים' בשכונה. שכונה זאת, הייתה ועודנה, סמל ודוגמא לשכונה תורנית מובהקת בירושלים והיא משמשת בספרות, במחזות ובתקשורת כדוגמא ומופת לשכונה חרדית-ירושלמית אוטנטית על בתיה, אישיה, מוסדותיה, גמילות החסדים שבה ויחד עם זאת מתינותה ואופיה הנוח כאנשי ירושלים הוותיקים.
