Five etchings of scenes from the Torah, 18th century

Five painted etchings by Gerard HOET [Dutch engraving 1648-1733, was published in the world in the monumental design works he created for the Slangenburg castles] .

Engravings depicting various scenes from the Torah: Abraham and the three angels, Moses taking water out of the rock, Aaron's headquarters, and sleep falling upon Avraham, Moshe and sorcerers - the staffs become crocodiles.

Hot's engravings were notable for their faithful loyalty to the language of the Bible. for example, in painting the angels without wings, their faces feminine, innocent. In his scenes he was one of the first to convey the sense of reality as it is despite the spirituality of the Bible.

Same size: 38x25 cm. Very fine condition.
