proclamation calling for a "mourning and protest rally" on the victims of Stroma - February 26, 1942 - two days after the disaster in which the ship was sunk by a Soviet submarine on all 768 Jewish refugees on board - in what is considered the greatest disaster in the history of illegal immigration to Eretz Israel of sinking a civilian ship during World War II.
