A photograph of Nazi soldiers searching for Jewish clothing - Warsaw Ghetto 1939
A photograph of Nazi soldiers on a street corner in the Warsaw ghetto conducting a search of Jewish clothing, December 1939.
In the front of the photo, a Jew is seen raising his hands in submission while the SS soldier searches his clothes. The photo was taken during a raid by the German security service on the Warsaw ghetto in search of a hidden weapon. This photo was published in the antisemitic newspaper Berliner Illustrierte Zeitung on December 14, 1939, under the headline: "Weapons Hidden in Tombs: German Security Service Invades the Warsaw Ghetto". Before us is the original photograph, depicted on his back in Polish: Żydzi schwytani w getcie warszawskim grudzień 1939 - 'Jews were captured in the Warsaw ghetto December 1939.' [See attached material].
Size: 8x11 cm. Very good condition.
