Exciting Discovery!!! Unique Historical Item! Temporary and Unknown Passport of Zeev Jabotinsky, First and Foremost Right Wing Leader, with His Photo and Signature! Austrian Passport, Valid for 15 Days Only! Issued During His Voyage for Establishing the Revisionist Movement. 1924.
Temporary and unknown passport issued for Zeev Jabotinsky in Vienna, while visiting in 1924, although he was not an Austrian citizen at all!!
Special historical item!!! Shedding light on the most important time in the life of the first and foremost Right-Wing leader, working to establish the new Zionist movement - the deepen the activities of the Beitar youth movement, established a short time earlier.
It is unknown how and why Jabotinsky was issued such a passport. The passport carries the title "Passport for Strangers".
It is valid for 15 days only! And limited to visits in Czechoslovakia, Germany and France only!
Passport contains an original photo of Jabotinsky and his original autograph.
Passport contains 12 pp, it was issued on May 30 1924, and valid until June 15 1924. It includes Travel stamps and visas by French consulate in Vienna, German embassy, and stamps from Slovenia and Austria, all from these two weeks in which it was valid.
Very good condition, slight foxing, adhesive tape to spine.
Zeev Jabotinsky (1880-1940) was a Zionist leader, first and foremost of Right-Wing leaders. A writer and poet, translator, journalist and prominent speaker. Had a main role in establishing the Jewish Battalion of the British Army in WWI, and a self-defense unit by the Jews of Odessa. He established the Revisionist movement, Beitar youth movement, leader of the Etsel and president of the Revisionist Movement.
The period in which this passport was established was a significant and important period in Jabotinsky's life and political activity. He resided in Paris with his wife and son, and worked on the editing and publishing of the first ever Hebrew atlas. At the same time, he began working on the establishing of the new movement he was planning. Only a few months earlier following his visit to Riga, a first branch of the youth movement Beitar was established.
Following this visit and the warm welcome he received there, he decided to return to political activity, after a period in which he dealt mainly with writing and literary matters. A while earlier he established in Berlin a Political Beureau and now he moved it to Paris alongside the periodical Rassviet which he edited.
At that point in his life, while moving the center of his life and activity to Paris, Jabotinsky embarked on a fundraising journey for the new movement – in Czechoslovakia, Germany and Austria! In Vienna he was received as a hero by a local students' organization, and it was during this visit that he was issued this passport.
Upon his return to paris, he continued to work on the new movement and renewing publication of Rassviet.
On April 1925, less than a year after this fundraising voyage, in a Parisian Café, the first convention of the Revisionist Movement took place!!
