RABBI ELIEZER TZVI SAFRIN, REBBE OF KOMARNO, LETTER WRITTEN BY HIS ATTENDANT TO A MEMBER OF THE KOMARNO SYNAGOGUE IN TZEFAS 1878.


A letter written by Yechiel Levy, the attendant of Rabbi Eliezer Tzvi Safrin of Komarno – author of Damesek Eliezer, to R. Yosef Tzvi, a member of the Komarno Synagogue in Tzefas, in reply to a wedding invitation and appeal for funds. The writer informs the recipient that the Rebbe of Komarno is unwell and therefore unable to send funds, and asks him to pray for the Rebbe and for a number of others whose names are specified.

Rabbi Eliezer Tzvi Safrin (1830-1898), son of Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac of Komarno. A disciple of his father and of his uncle Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh of Zidatshov. Succeeded his father as Rebbe of Komarno in 1874, with a large number of adherents. Author of Ben Beisi, Damesek Eliezer and Zekan Beisi.
