A rare and early booklet published by the BETAR organization calling for a response and a Jewish war against the Nazi enemy - February 1943

ACTION - NOT PITY! - A rare pamphlet published by a Beitar organization in New York on February 15, 1943, calling for an initiated and immediate response against the Nazi enemy in the territories of the German Reich. The rare publication was circulated a few days after an article with the same headline and content was published in the American New York Times (the title page of the article published in the New York Times featured an illustration by Arthur Szyk). Activists of the Beitar movement, following the New York Times, published this pamphlet in independent publication.

On the title page of the booklet are photographs of harsh scenes of humiliated or Killed jews, by the Nazis in occupied Europe, and above them a figure of a soldier in a brigade. Following the hard news of the extermination of European Jews who began to arrive one after the other outside Europe, the movement calls for immediate action: "7,000 Jews in Europe are slaughtered on average per day ... something must be done ... A residential area of a Nazi city must be bombed until at least 10,000 Nazis pay with their lives ... The United States and England must immediately allow the establishment of a Jewish army ... the terrible massacre of our Jewish brethren in Europe must be stopped ... ". The pamphlet presents an extensive plan of action for a Jewish response, as well as an appeal to the governments of the United States and England to assist in the establishment of such a Jewish force, and an initiated attack on German territory. Likewise, the booklet demands the return of Jews to the Land of Israel immediately. With reference to the situation of the Land of Israel in those days, and the claim that it is prepared to absorb Jews from all over the world, both in terms of area and land quality, and more.

Of all the Jewish organizations that were still active during the Holocaust, it was the Betar organization that stood out most in the uprising against the Nazi enemy. In Krakow, for example, the organization was not afraid to fight the Gestapo itself over the hoisting of the Betar flag. The Member of the Beitar movement Yitzhak Rochchin led the first ghetto uprising of the war, the Lahwa Ghetto Uprising. But without a doubt the most well-known and largest-scale uprising was of the Jewish military organization (ACI) that took part in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. It was an organization of revisionists and Betar people established in late 1939, fought alongside the AIL organization in the Nazi forces in the uprising. In April 1943, and was a significant force due to a relatively high amount of equipment and weapons. It is also known about many Betar members who took a significant part in the partisan movements, in initiated activities, and in the revolt.
