Three photographs from Bergen - Belsen Death camp taken by the Allies at the end of the war

Three large photographs from Bergen - Belsen camp, taken by the Allies - the camp's liberators, at the end of World War II. The three photographs are stamped with the ink of the "Minister de l'information".

* A rare photograph of Bergen - Belsen camp commander Josef Kramer handcuffed and guarded by an Allied soldier inside the camp. Josef Kramer [1906-1945] known as "The Beast from Belsen", a nickname given by camp inmates. A notorious Nazi war criminal, who was directly responsible for the deaths of thousands of people. With the collapse of the camp management, many guards fled and left the prisoners alone. As the British entered the camp, many rotten bodies were discovered, and the other horrors of the camp were exposed. Kramer remained even when the British entered the camp, and was indifferent to the arrival of Allied soldiers and took the British on a tour of the camp. Piles of corpses lay all over the camp, mass graves were filled, and the barracks were full of prisoners who were sick in Typhoid. Kramer was convicted of war crimes and hanged in Hamlin Prison by the famous British executioner Albert Fairpoint, on November 17, 1945.

* Women and children crammed inside what was called the "camp hospital."

* A large pile of corpses - prisoners who were found dead in the camp.

Same size: 23x17 cm. Very good condition.
