Hanukkah Menorah. Italy, 18th / 19th century

Hanukkah Menorah. [Italy, 18th / 19th century] - Cast brass.

The general shape of the back wall is a triangular shape. At base, attached row of oil fonts. And is adorned with developers, lattices, and sills. High Shamash.

This form of Hanukkah Menorah was originally created in Sicily even before the deportation of the Jews in 1492. The Jews of Sicily were known as excellent goldsmiths and metal artists, their work earned the nickname 'Craft of Solomon', which since the Middle Ages was considered a particularly good work. The Sicily model is a source of design for Hanukkah lamps with slight changes in Italy and Poland in recent centuries.
