Aryeh Moskowitz - Prayer

Aryeh Moskowitz  - a boy in prayer against the background of harp, shofar, and tablets of the covenant. Watercolor and marker on paper. Signed A. Moskowitz.

Arie Moskowitz [b. 1930] A painter Romanian-born. In December 1946, he immigrated to Eretz Israel alone on the illegal immigrant ship "Rafiah", which sank in a storm near the Greek island of Sirena, and its survivors were sent to detention camps in Cyprus. In 1948 he came to Israel, to Safed, where, on the instructions of the local commander of the defense, he designed the title page of the Kol Safed newspaper, and the Safed stamps. Illustrated numerous books of children and youth in the fifties, sixties and seventies - Bible stories "Kofiko", "Hasamba" , "Danidin" and many more. He also illustrated many greeting cards. M. Arieh designed more than 300 symbols for the IDF. His paintings are precise in detail and realistic, but present an ideal image typical of naive painting.
