Five early books with dedications and signatures of SY Agnon.


* HaHashmoneim HaKtanim - A Vision in Two Systems by K. L. Silman, published by 'Snunim' Jerusalem 1921. On the title page, a dedication in Agnon's handwriting: "To Shlomo Schocken affectionately SY Agnon" (In 1915, Agnon first met Schocken through his friend Martin Buber. Schocken supported Agnon financially and socially, and is considered Agnon's patron and prominent secret man. In May 1925, Shlomo Zalman Schocken visited Eretz Israel, and Agnon expressed his desire to publish a collection of all his writings. For a time Schocken decided to be the publisher of these books. To this end, Schocken founded 'Schocken Verlag', which began operating in 1931 and published Agnon's writings.


* 'Mishley shualim' by Rabbi Brachia son of rabbi Natronai Hanakdan, published by 'Tarklin', Warsaw 1929, on the title page Dedication in Agnon's handwriting: "Dear Arthur Ruppin, S. Agnon". (Arthur Ruppin, the renowned Zionist leader. In 1912, Agnon and Ruppin traveled together to visit Berlin).

* BiYemey Elem by M. Smilansky and S. Tzemach. Three articles with an introduction by Martin Buber. Jerusalem 1943. Owner's signature of Agnon.

* Choose a Hebrew last name by Yaakov A. Aricha, Jerusalem [1954]. 

* Zrubavel Galed / Nahar Yarak - Songs. Published by Kibbutz Hameuchad [1957]. Owner's signature of Agnon.

The books are in good  - very good condition.
