Sefer HaYashar by Rabbeinu Tam. Special Pocket Editiom. The Shapiro Brothers Press. Zhitomir, [1847].
Sefer Hayashar, authored by Rabbeinu Yaakov Tam Baal HaTosafot. Basic Sefer Mussar 'to walk on the correct path before G-d and man' 'A man with G-d fearingness in his heart will study this book daily...'. Printed by the Shapiro brothers the grandsons of the Rav of Slavuta in Zhitomir, 1847. Their first edition of Sefer HaYashar. In 1859, the book was reprinted in Zhitomir.
It seems that the Sefer was printed in a relatively small format due to what was written at its beginning and cited above about the importance of studying the holy Sefer daily; thus, the pocket edition which can be placed in the pocket of the garment or coat.
On the front and back flyleaves. an ownership notation from the time 'Given as a gift to my friend the renowned rabbinic Naggid Rabbi Chaim Aharon'. Partly erased.
47 leaves. 14 cm. New elegant semi-leather binding. Very good condition.
