The father of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchov, Rabbi Meir ben Rabbi Moshe of Zamość, Rabbi of the city of Hoskov in Galicia, a descendant of a family of rabbis from whom "a Torah crown has not been removed for thirty-six generations", all of whom served as rabbis and Community leaders.
And so he wrote about him in the book "Toldot Beit Levy", by the grandson of the "Kdushat Levi" - Rabbi Matityahu Yechezkel Gutman: "The famous genius of his generation Rabbi Meir zt"l Av Beit Din Hussaków (near Yaroslov in Galicia), in whose honor his descendants glory, and reminded him of praise and his son always signed himself with his approvals, "son of Rabbi Meir", and in his book Kedushet Levi he brought the words of Torah of him, and to the greatness of the holy, for I am very fond of his holy words which are truly scarce, which are left to us from many of his teachings, I am to present them in this, and I hope that in this he will be stationed to his holy soul...". And in "shem Hagdolim", he wrote: "The Gaon Rabbi Meir A great and famous genius of his generation, Av beit din Hoskov, the son of the famous genius of his generation, Moreynu Rabbi Moshe, etc. and he is the father of the genius Morenu Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchov, and in his book 'Levi Yitzchak Tinyna', Torah novels are quoted from his late father, the above).
The wife of Rabbi Meir, the righteous Rebbetzin Sara Sasha - mother of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchov, was a descendant of Rabbi Shmuel Eliezer Aydlis - the Maharsh'a Netzer to the house of David, and was also a descendant of Rabbi Moshe Margaliot Av Beit Din of Ternigrad.
