The Western Wall - Bezalel

"The Western Wall" - a print in the technique of a stencil on canvas, made by Bezalel - signed in the lower left corner.

A group of worshipers at the Western Wall, and makes combined use of several stencils on brown cloth. The Western Wall itself is depicted at an oblique angle, which gives depth description. It depicts two groups of worshipers. One is scattered along the Western Wall, with women and men in it. A second group is depicted near the back wall of the narrow square.

The print was created in one of the departments of "Bezalel". It is possible that the work was done in the workshop of Michael Filmus, who was engaged in creating images using the technique of stencil printing on canvas or on black velvet. Or by the "Tomer" group. In the school and in the workshop, similar works were created using this technique, among which are works by Meir Gur Arie and Arie Marder. Descriptions of holy places were common in the school's works, with the intention of marketing them among the people of the old settlement and tourists.

51x31 cm. An old magnificent wooden frame: 65x45 cm.
