Tractate Bava Metzia, Copy that Belonged to the Admo"r, the Author of Akeidat Yitzchak of Alexander
Tractate Bava Metzia from the Re'em Press in Vilna. Leaf 3 bears two of the Admo" r of Alexander's, the author of Akeidat Yitzchak's, owner's stamps.
Two handwritten glosses on leaf 1 of the leaves of the Ri" f.
Included is a leaf inscribed " Belongs to the Beit Chassidim of Alexander ... this gemara belongs to the Admo" r of Alexander shlita's Chassidim ..."
The Admo" r Rabbi Yitzchak Menachem Danziger of Alexander [apparently 1880-1943] was one of the leading Admo" rs of his generation, leader of the second-largest Chassidic court in Poland (and there are those who say the largest). This Chassidut was annihilated almost completely by the Nazi knife. Rabbi Danziger was educated by his grandfather, founder of the dynasty, and under his uncle, Rabbi Yerachmiel Yisrael Yitzchak, author of Yismach Yisrael, of Alexander. After his father's passing, the author of Tiferet Shmuel was appointed Admo" r. Tens of thousands of Chassidim in Poland were drawn to him. Together with his brother Rabbi Avraham Chaim Danziger, he founded the large " Beit Yisrael" yeshivah network. He was killed in the Holocaust in the Treblinka camp together with all his descendants. Remnants of his Torah thoughts were collected by Alexander Chassidim who survived the Holocaust and printed in the book Akeidat Yitzchak.
Lacking title page and leaf 2, the stamps on the first leaf of the book as it is before us.
Moderate-fine condition. Aging stains. Taped tears and reinforcements. Simple binding.
