BARRAS PAUL: (1755-1829) French Politician during French Revolution. Main executive leader of the Directory regime 1795-99. Large D.S., P. Barras, one page, large folio, Paris, 13th January 1797, to Jean-Baptiste Gault, in French. The partially printed document is the appointment of Jean-Baptiste Gault as infantry Captain, including his personal details, services rendered, war campaigns, wounds, etc.. Also signed by Claude Louis Petiet (1749-1806) in his capacity as Minister of war. The document bears to the bottom left corner an attractive paper seal affixed. Folded. About VG £250-350
