WAGNER ADOLF: (1890-1944) German important member of the Nazi Party. leader in the ''Night of the Long Knives''. Wagner was appointed Gauleiter of Gau Munchen-Oberbayern. He lost his right leg when serving in World War. Attractive printed folded beige stiff signed `Adolf Wagner´, one page, oblong 8vo, Munich, 6th October 1936, to Hermann Ruf family, in German. The document bears to the upper left front corner an embossed monogram with the Nazi eagle and swastika over the printed text ''Der Gauleiter Munchen-Oberbayern'' and states `On October 1st you thought of me on my 46th birthday and sent me a hearty congratulation for which I would like to thank you for it.´ Above Wagner´s signature bearing the printed text ''Heil Hitler'', and beneath ''State Minister''. Accompanied by the original envelope, bearing several Nazi postmarks and stamp. Also including a colour 8 x 12 photograph, unsigned, showing Wagner outdoors, in a half length pose, wearing his Nazi uniform during a parade. VG £100-150 Wagner served as the master of ceremonies for the annual commemorations of the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch every 9 November in Munich. He was also Bavarian Minister of the Interior and Education. Remembered for his 1941 order stating that school prayer should be replaced by Nazi songs and that crucifixes and religious pictures be removed from Bavarian classrooms. When Wagner died in April 1944, the increasingly reclusive Fuhrer made a rare public appearance to attend his funeral, and posthumously awarded him the German Order, the Nazi Party's highest decoration. Rare 8 mm color film of Wagner appears in the home movies (1938) filmed by Hitler's companion, Eva Braun. He can be seen talking with Hitler on the terrace of Hitler's Bavarian residence the Berghof.
