EISENHOWER DWIGHT D.: (1890-1969) American General of World War II. American President 1953-61. A good war date T.L.S., Dwight D Eisenhower, one page, 8vo, Supreme Headquarters, 25th September 1944, to Mrs. K. G. Venning, on the printed stationery of the Office of the Supreme Commander, Allied Expeditionary Force. Eisenhower writes, in full, 'I quite agree with your convictions that the German people should be treated sternly although, of course, justly. I not only disapprove of fraternization, but under my orders, commanders are being especially watchful to prevent this. I think the pictures you saw involved an isolated incident'.
