NAPOLEON I: (1769-1821) Emperor of France 1804-14, 1815. Napoleon approves a proposal, signing `Np´ to the upper left corner of a L.S., Victor, by Claude Victor-Perrin (1764-1841) Marshal of France and Duc de Belluno, three pages, folio. Signed by Napoleon in Paris, 12th April 1809, and by Victor-Perrin in Villanueva de la Serena, Spain, 29th March 1809, in French. The document states to the heading `Situation of the Officers and particulars who distinguished themselves during the Battle of Medellin and for whom I ask for rewards´, and further lists over forty names, including Generals, Colonels, Commandants, Captains, etc.. with their current ranks and the upgrade ranks proposals. Napoleon signs beneath a short written text stating `Send to the Minister of war to suggest promotions for those who would have not yet obtained in this campaign..´ Hole to Napoleon´s approval due to heavy ink, only partially affecting it. Small overall minor age wear and creasing, otherwise F to G £800-1200 The Battle of Medellin, 28th March 1809, resulted in a victory of the French army under Marshal Victor against Spanish. The battle marked the first major effort to occupy Southern Spain.
