Silver Chicken Medal (The Henry Medal) Anti-Semitatism Satire 1700 Ami Brown Collection
Germany, Gotha: The Chicken Medal ("The Henry Medal") with a "Feather Jew" Motif, circa 1700, by Christian Vermouth; cast into a silver metal. Size: 31 mm, weight: 10.3 gr. Large cock riding a hores, 5 smaller chickens in the background, the legend around: "WER KEINER I STER DER KANCH EINER | WER DEN" (no one can be somebody). Medal back: open chest decorated on a tile floor with a pair of horns on the back. Double legend. 4 lines inscribed on the box. Very similar to anti-Semite/satire medals "Feathers Jew", playing on the alleged sexual/financial skill of Jews while in hunger. EF-AU with tracks of glow. Fieweger-133, Feill-3431.
