Twenty two photographs, postcards, booklets and other paper items connected to the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Jerusalem, London, New York and elsewhere, 1910s to 1930s (one item is from a later year). English. A little Hebrew and German.
Among the items: * "The proposed Hebrew University on Mount Scopus…", a booklet introducing the plan of the architect Patrick Geddes for the building of the Hebrew University, accompanied by illustrations and architectural sketches (from this plan, only the building of the National Library was built, which today serves the faculty of law). Ca. 1924. * Issue no. 8 of the journal The New Palestine published by the Zionist Organization of America, which was dedicated to the opening of the Hebrew University. New York, March 1925. * Six postcards with photographs from the day the University opened – April 1, 1925, including a Real Photo postcard depicting the speech of High Commissioner Herbert Samuel. * Eight photographs of the University in its first years, captioned in print on verso, in Hebrew, English and German. * Bookplate of the "Chevrat Dorshei HaUniversita HaIvrit BeYerushalayim (1926). * And more.
