A booklet issued by the JNF, for the purpose of raising funds for plantings forests in Palestine. The booklet examines the Zionist, national and economic importance of planting forests in Palestine, the required funds and the various fund-raisers that the JNF was holding among European Jews. At the beginning of the booklet is a review of the afforestation efforts in Palestine – the activities of "The Palestine Exploration Committee", which was authorized in 1903 by the sixth Zionist congress, planting the "Herzl Forest" in 1908, and the transition from planting olive trees to barren trees in 1912.
The booklet features a portrait of Theodor Herzl, photographs of workers and of a building in Ben-Shemen and an illustration of a donation certificate for planting trees.
32 pp, approx. 15 cm. Good condition. Stains. Pinholes to the right margins of all the leaves. Wormholes to the front cover and first leaf. Stamps. Pencil writing on the front cover. Open tears near the spine.
