The book Migdal David, “a commentary on Shir Hashirim by the great rabbi…David Ben Zimra known as the Ridbaz.” First edition, Lemberg, 1883. As written on the title page – the book was printed from a manuscript that was in the possession of the Rebbe Rabbi Menachem Mendel Hager – the Tzemach Tzadik, founder of the Vizhnitz dynasty. In his approbation he writes that he inherited the manuscript from his father the Torat Chaim of Kossov and promises that anyone who buys this book “at the price given to it” will be protected by the merit of the author “that nothing bad will happen to him and he will have peace and tranquility in his home and will be blessed from the source of all blessings with an abundance of blessing and success…” [1], 84 leaves. Bound with the book Hod Tehillah on the laws of Chanukah by Rabbi Ephraim Eliezer Zvi Charlap, av beit din of Mezeritch. First edition – Warsaw, 1899. With approbations from Rabbi Chaim of Brisk and Rabbi Eliyahu Chaim Meisels of Lodz and others. 44 leaves, 88 pages. Binding is partially detached, slight tears, a few pastings, good overall condition. Rabbi David ben Zimra – the Ridbaz (1479-1574), rabbi of the Ari and of Rabbi Bezalel Ashkenazi, author of the Shitta Mekubetzet.
