[LOUIS XV]: (1710-1774) King of France 1715-74. A good D.S., `Louis´, secretarial, one page, vellum, 24 x 20, Paris, 10th January 1717, to Sieur Louis de Rohan, in French. The document issued as ''By the King, the Duke of Orleans, Regent present'', being the appointment of Captain Lieutenant of the Gendarmes Guard. Attractively countersigned to the verso by Phelypeaux. Small overall age wear and creasing. Area of paper loss at the base, not affecting the text or signatures. G £150-200 Jules François Louis de Rohan (1697-1724) French nobleman. Prince of Soubise. He died at the very early age of 27 of smallpox. Louis Phelypeaux (1672-1725) Marquis of La Vrilliere. French Statesman and King´s House Secretary of State 1715-18.
