Dance in Israel - Collection of 7 Quarterlies
Dance in Israel - Collection of 7 Quarterlies, 1993-7, includes numbers: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10. Published by Zoom Productions, editors: Giora Manor and Ruth Eshel. *Dance in Israel - began as a annual magazine, established in 1975, by Giora Manor and Judy Breen-ingbar. Judy, a young dancer, was before migrating to Israel one of the staff editors of the journal Dance Magazine in the USA. She has edited with Manor two annual magazines and later returned with her family to the USA. To this day, she maintains a firm connection with Israel and is an expert on Jewish and Israeli Dance. Manor continued editing the annual magazine on his own, and throught the years, gradually, Gila Toledano began assisting him in the administrative aspects of the production of the magazine. Giora Manor had dreamt on changing from an annual to a quarterly journal. Being a Kibbutz member he lacked the money to found this enterprise and was in need of additional financing. We had many talks on this. the solution came from an unexpected source. At the time, my daugther's boyfriend was a young lad from Haifa named Lior Weintraub, who was publishing a a student paper (ZOOM), and had also produced many newspapers for universities throughout the country and was the owner of an ad company. After 4 issues were issues of Dance in Israel were issued in a new and modern design format, distributed to all the newstands in the country and after the launch of a successful subscribers program, the quarterly began receiving support from the Ministry of Education - from the Public Council for Art and Culture - the dance department, directed by Nili Cohen.
