SHIMON BAR-KOKHBA, 132 – 135 CE
Large bronze, 31.5 mm. Year two. Obverse: Paleo-Hebrew inscription within wreath: “Shimon”. Reverse: Amphora (stamped on a coin of Hadrian?). Paleo-Hebrew inscription: “Year Two (to the Freedom of) Isra(el)”. Partly cleaned. Fine and very rare. Mildenberg 19; Meshorer TJC 256; Hendin 1405. Ex Gershon Bineth collection, Tel Aviv.
