Letter Signed by the Admo"r of Lubavitch: Mazal Tov on the Birth of Your Daughter with the Word "Torah" Underlined for Emphasis - Handwritten by the Rebbe. 22 Shevat 1958
Letter to Rabbi Baruch Shapira of Jerusalem with Mazal Tov blessings for the birth of his daughter Ita. The Rebbe blesses: "That you calmly raise her along with [your wife] to Torah, to marriage and to good deeds." Later in the letter, the Rebbe underlines the word "Torah" for emphasis.
The Rebbe discusses the Chaba"d custom at length - of also using the traditional blessing text on the occasion of a daughter's birth: "To Torah, to marriage and to good deeds." (In contrast to the popular opinion which refrains from mentioning the word "to Torah" upon the birth of a girl, or, alternatively, uses the the expression "to a husband with Torah").
The Rebbe adds in the letter's margins about the importance of lessons in Cht"t (Chumash, Tehillim, Tanya): "Nevertheless, [you] should keep them from now on."
The Admo"r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson [1902-1994] was the seventh in the dynasty of Admo"rs of Lubavitch. He served as Admo"r from 1951 until his passing. He was a tremendous genius in all realms of Torah and his net was - and still is - cast across the entire world.
