Extremely Rare and Unusual Russian Silver Nesting Traveling Tea Service Set, Nichols & Plinke for Henrik August Lang, St. Petersburg, 1840.

Including: 

Hot water kettle (17cm).

Teapot (14.5cm).

Milk jug (9.5cm).

Sugar bowl (8cm).

Folding stand with burner (6.5cm).


All pieces (except the pot's handles) are made to fit inside the large kettle to form a comfortable traveling kit, see images!


All marked with Russian silver marks, N&P for the renowned company Nichols and Plinke , workmaster’s mark H.A.L. of Henrik August Lang, assay master’s mark of Dmitry Tverskoy, assay mark of St. Petersburg, dated 1840.

Charles Constantin Nicholls and William Plincke - owners of a large firm of silversmiths in St. Petersburg, active between 1829 and 1898. Throughout 1840-70s Nicholls & Plinke were main supplier of silverware to the Russian Imperial court. They collaborated with many British workshops and such local masters as Carl Tegelsten, Samuel Arndt, Henrik August Lang and Emil Friedrich Henrichsen.
