Panorama des Heiligen Landes. A lithograph printed map, according to the original drawing by Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Pinie of Sefad, [c. 1875].
The original map was printed on fabric in 1875. This is a lithographic black and white printing identical to the original printing and different from later facsimiles. The mountains, seas and walls of Jerusalem are hand-painted. Printed on the frame: "The shape of the Holy Land within its borders with all its marks and straits, cities and villages, mountains and hills… ". The map is divided into five vertical strips, according to the areas of Eretz Yisrael, from the west to the east. Contains an impressive description of the cities, rivers and mountains, sites and tombs of tzaddikim, the shape of Jerusalem and Makom HaMikdash, the Kotel HaMa'aravi, the tombs of the Kings; The tomb of Rashbi; Sefad and the tombs of the Tana'in, etc.
41X57 cm. Good condition. Pasted on cardboard, Tears and damage to margins.
A detailed impressive map. Does not appear in Eran Laor. See E.&G. Weintraub, Hebrew maps of the Holy Land, Maps 66-66a.
