Pi Sh'nayim, two letters. [Ungvar], [approx 1888].
Polemic against Rabbi Elazer Lev, who succeeded in becoming rabbi of Ungvar. The booklet contains a sharp letter written by Rabbi Elazar in 1662 against Rebbe Tzvi Hirsh of Liska and against Chasidut in general, and a letter from Rabbi Hirsh of Liska addressing this polemic.
Rabbi Elazar Lev (1839-1918), author of Pekudat Elazar, son of Rabbi Yirmiyahu Lev of Ohel, author of Divrei Yirmiyahu. One of the leading Orthodox rabbis in Northern Hungary. Served in the Ohel Rabbinate from the year 1874. In 1888, he was appointed as Rabbi of Ungva. In both places, Chasidic circles fought against him, despite his zeal in upholding matters of religion. This polemic was published by the Chasidim, when he arrived in Ungvar, in order to publicize the new Rabbi's actual opinion on Chasidut.
