"Sefer HaMikne" – shtar for sale of four amot of land in Jerusalem to the "Ir HaTzedek" Society. Jerusalem, c. 1880.
"I, the undersigned confirm that I sold to Rabbi ______ four amot of land in the Holy city of Jerusalem … of land owned by the Ir HaTzedek Society near the main road leading to the city of Shechem (Nablus)… Signed… Jerusalem… 1880… Shlomo Yitzchak HaCohen son of the Rabbi the Tzaddik of Volborzh".
Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchak HaCohen Turnheim (ascended to Jerusalem in 1874, died 1916), son of Rebbe Yissachar Ber HaCohen of Volborzh. In the 1880-s, he initiated the building of a neighborhood in Jerusalem [north to the Nablus Gate?], and by these shtarot, he was active in giving those who live abroad the privilege of fulfilling the mitzvah of purchasing four amot of land in Eretz Yisrael and of settling Eretz Yisrael.
Single leaf 21 cm. Fair condition, many tears to margins.
