About 90 paper items which belonged to Abraham Langleben, native of Warsaw, 1912. During the holocaust Langleben was in the Warsaw Ghetto (1939-1942) and afterwards was imprisoned in various camps, including Maidanek. After the war he stayed in Italian DP camps in Bangoli, Rivoli and Barletta (where he worked as a policeman). In the early or mid 1950s he immigrated to the US. The documents include:
Certificate issued by the UN International Refugees Organization; member-card "Union of General Zionists in Italy", 1947; notebook with lists of addresses of people and of assistance organizations in the US (handwritten); certificate confirming that Langleben worked at the "Ort" school in Barletta; receipt for donation of "Shekel HaYovel" in Italy in 1947; letter from Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Canal Rebbe of Lashki and member of Rabbis Council of Warsaw, 1931. The letter is addressed to Langleben and was probably kept by him during the war years (torn and worn); Copybook of "Ort" school in Rivoli DP camp; letter issued by Vereinigung Rassisch Verfolgter; 26 photos, some in police-uniform in Barletta camp, Italy; 4 Shana Tovah Real-photo cards from DP camps in Italy; Letter on behalf of Displaced Persons Commission upon Langleben's arrival in the USA; printed greeting card on behalf of Refugee-Immigration Division of "Tzeirey Agudat Israel in America"; American citizenship certificate of 1955. When Langleben got his American citizenship he changed his name to Joseph Avraham Lang; additional items. Lot of about 90 items. Varying sizes and conditions.
