"B'Simana Tava U'Vemazala Ya'e "– Ketubah on the occasion of the marriage of the groom Moshe ben Yitzchak with the bride Miriam bat Yosef. Isfahan (Persia), 1874.
A large Ketubah, color illustrations, with ornamentation and motifs characteristic of the region and the times: birds, peacocks and flowers.
To demonstrate their faithfulness to the country, Persian Jews used to adorn their ketubot with the emblem of the Persian rule: a lion in front of a rising sun. This Ketubah has two illustrations of lions, one opposite the other, for symmetry. Behind each lion is a sun with a human face.
65X69 cm. Placed in a frame. Good-fair condition. Not examined out of frame.
