"Massa Eliezer" – Visit of Moses Montefiore in Vilnius, 1847

Account of the author’s trip, accompanying Sir Moses Montefiore to Vilnius in 1846 when the latter travelled to Russia in an attempt to persuade the authorities to alleviate persecution of the Jewish population. As mentioned in the introduction by Yekutiel Shapira, who brought the book to press, Massa Eliezer is a chapter from Shmuel Joseph Fuenn’s 'Tiferet LeMoshe', on Sir Montefiore’s trip. Fuenn's poem "In Honor of Sir Moses Montefiore" appears at the end of the book. The National Library copy contains 19 pages only, lacking the poem by Fuenn.
