Bible Presented to Rabbi Yichye Alsheich in the International Bible Contest – Signatures / Letter from Rechavam Ze’evi

At the beginning of the book appears the signature of “Yichye Alsheich” who was awarded this book after winning first prize in the International Bible Contest which was held in 1961. Signatures by participants from various countries appear on the same leaf. Rabbi Yichye Alsheich Halevi (1915-1997), a Yemenite sage and one of the heads of Yeshivat Beit Alsheich in Sana’a. Immigrated to Israel in 1949 and was involved in strengthening observance of tradition among Yemenite Jews. Was known for being knowledgeable and won first prize in the International Bible Contest for adults. He was visited by many for a blessing and for advice. 22 cm. Overall good condition. · Enclosed is a letter handwritten by the General and politician, Minister Rechavam Ze’evi (Gandi) to Yehudah Ilan (producer of the International Bible Contest ceremony) praising Ilan for a “Perfectly organized ceremony”.
