Archive of Letters and Letter Drafts – Badatz HaEda HaCharedit Jerusalem
Large collection of drafts of letters and documents of the Beit Din – the Badatz of the Eda HaCharedit in Jerusalem ca. 1960s-1990s. Most of the letters and drafts are in the handwriting of the Beit Din scribe – Rabbi Avraham Mordechai Breitstein [who served as the scribe of dayanim for more than 30 years, from the time of Rabbi Pinchas Epstein and Rabbi David Yungreiss]. Rabbis' signatures appear on several leaves: the Ga'avad, the Ra'avad and Badatz members: Rabbi Yitzchak Ya'akov Weiss, Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Friend, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Dushinsky, Rabbi Avraham David Horwitz, Rabbi Yisrael Ya'akov Fisher, Rabbi Binyamin Rabinowitz, Rabbi Moshe Halberstam, Rabbi Meir Brandsofer, etc. Varied content: religious reinforcement, public protests, kashrut issues, mikvaot and Shabbat observance; recommendations for individuals and for Torah and Chesed institutes; laws of monetary and matrimonial issues; approbations for books and letters barring publications and products with owners' rights; letters dealing with the entry of mohalim to the Bikur Holim Hospital, etc. Approximately 140 documents, size and condition vary.
